The Designer Rooms Announces Kilmarnock Relocation Masterplan for Summer 2024 The Designer Rooms Announces Kilmarnock Relocation Masterplan for Summer 2024

As The Designer Rooms enters the 14th year of trade, the ever-expanding local business is very excited to announce their newest - and largest - superstore will open in Summer 2024 right in the heart of Kilmarnock town centre.

At the end of March, the existing Poundstretchers store at Fowlds Street Kilmarnock will close its doors, handing the reins over to local retailer The Designer Rooms. In true DR fashion, the 36000 sq. ft store will undergo a complete transformation, with shop-fit plans already underway. The state-of-the-art furniture superstore will truly revolutionise this side of Kilmarnock town centre, raising the bar for nearby retailers and creating a positive environment for locals and passers-by. This will be one of the largest independent furniture stores in Scotland, specialising in exclusively designed furniture for every room in your home, with a private car park hosting 80 spaces.

As a local family-run business, The Designer Rooms team is very excited to begin this project, using all local contractors and tradesmen, with an idea of ‘Ayrshire supporting Ayrshire’.  With over 100 local employees already, there will be many new jobs created through this new branch, both in-store and behind the scenes.

The Designer Rooms would especially like to thank East Ayrshire Council for their support in helping to facilitate this new project, which will have a positive impact on this end of Kilmarnock town centre.

Councillor Douglas Reid, Leader of East Ayrshire Council, welcomed news of this local expansion. He said: “This is great news for Kilmarnock. It’s really encouraging to see local businesses flourish and grow in this way and we’re delighted that The Designer Rooms have opted to stay in East Ayrshire. This larger site, with dedicated parking, will really help to strengthen the retail offer in this part of the town centre, and will really complement our vision to create a vibrant town centre.”

So what does this move entail? Two existing Designer Rooms’ branches must close to facilitate this move (Ayr Road in Irvine, and Campbell Street in Kilmarnock) merging the teams together and  allowing exciting new business opportunities for the new tenants in existing sites. Please be advised that all current orders placed in the Irvine Showroom are unaffected by this move.

First to close will be the Irvine showroom, making way for local family-run baby-wear and pram retailer 123-ABC. Being such an exciting opportunity for 123-ABC, they are keen to press on and open their brand-new flagship store in early spring, so the closing down sale at The Designer Rooms in Irvine must begin now. New tenants have also been sourced for the current DR site at Campbell Street in Kilmarnock, however this move will be closer to summer.

Launching on Friday 16 February, Irvine shoppers will line up to get the quality designer furniture we know and love, but at clearance prices in this closing down sale. As we speak, it’s all hands-on-deck at Ayr Road in Irvine as they get ready for their biggest sale event yet. Every single item is being reduced to help get their showroom emptied. Are you a DR fan? Well, this is your chance... All stock must go, with no reasonable offer refused.
